Modi Govt To Have Historians Review Deepika Padukone’s Padmavati


The nation remains at crossroads as Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Padmavati hangs on in wait for certification and the confirmation of a release date. The Rajput communities have expressed their discontent vividly this far, as open threats were given to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone. And in the midst of this, the Modi government has decided to move on the matter, and have historians verify if historical facts have been distorted or not in the film.

As per fresh reports in Deccan Chronicle, the Union Information and Broadcasting ministry have sought the help of the Human Resource Development ministry to list down eminent historians, who will be part of a censor board panel to review Padmavati. The historians are expected to put rest the allegations against by checking the veracity of the facts represented. ALSO READ:

It was the Central Board of Film Certification that requested the I&B ministry to provide them with historians who can help verify the film’s content for its facts, and so the Smriti Irani-led  I&B ministry wrote a letter to the HRD ministry regarding the same. The sources at the leading daily also suggest that the names of the people in the panel will be finalised soon and CBFC will be evaluating the film along with them.
